The Ikageng police have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl from Ikageng, two days in a row.

The rapes happened on 5 and 6 November respectively.

The girl has since come forward to report the incident. According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, the girl was washing the dishes at home at about 07:00 on 5 November, while her uncle and aunt were at work. ‘The suspect, who is known to the girl, came in and asked her to go with him to buy a cool drink. She agreed and after he had bought the drink, he suggested that they should go to his place. When they got there, he locked the door and took her to the bed. He stripped her, fondled her and proceeded to rape her repeatedly. After that, he chased her away and told her not to tell anyone.’

Trom says the suspect went back to the girl the following afternoon and demanded that she go with him. ‘When she refused, he picked her up and carried her to his place, where he allegedly raped her again,’ reported Trom.
