The great countdown begins for the Free State/Madeira Flower Festival

More than 200 000 flowers will be used for the floral procession.

If you love flowers, then you absolutely want to be in Parys on 7 and 8 December for the annual Free State/ Madeira Flower Festival.
Ever since the launch of the Free State/ Madeira Flower Festival in 2016, thousands and thousands of flower lovers have streamed to the town to see this spectacular event every year.
Now in its third year, this delightful explosion of everything floral is bigger and more beautiful than ever before, including among others a one-kilometre floral procession/ carnival in the main street of Parys with 500 participants and five floral floats representing the Big 5 tourism routes in the Free State. More than 200 000 flowers will be used for the floral procession.
The festival is a joint venture between the Free State government and the Autonomous State of Madeira, hosted by the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority.
In addition to the procession bursting with thousands of flowers and the magnificent floral floats, there will be hundreds of choreographed performers and giant flower puppets performing around a spectacular flower precinct in a Disney-like flower story.
This year, in centenary celebration of the lives of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu, Madeiran flower artists are also creating breathtaking flower carpets portraying the two icons.
A Bridal Expo at Egweni River Lodge in Van Coller Street, Parys, will form part of the festive weekend for the first time and can be visited from 7-10 December from 10:00 to16:00 daily.
The Bridal Expo will address every need of the bride to be – from dresses to make-up, photographers, decor, venues and more.
With only nine days to go, be sure not to miss the FS/Madeira Flower Festival in Parys. There will be plenty of activities including a flower trade forum, charity golf day, and lifestyle exhibition show.
Entry to the festival is free.
