The 27-year-old Zimbabwean national has been arrested for the murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend this morning (Friday) in Phuduhutswana Street, Ikageng.
“The man stabbed his girlfriend to death with a jungle knife, thereafter attempted suicide by drinking poison. It is still unclear as to what led to the fatal stabbing,” reported Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng police spokesperson.
Trom says the suspect was transported to the Potchefstroom hospital for treatment and is currently under police guard.
