The police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man in Ext. 11.

According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng police spokesperson, Fanyane Ndlovu succumbed to his injuries in hospital after been stabbed in the chest and head. Lt-

Col Amanda Funani said the two men got into a fight at a local shebeen when the victim started speaking to the suspect’s sister. ‘The latter allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim twice in the upper body. The man was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

‘The suspect was arrested at his house in Ext. 11 and charged with murder. He is expected to appear in the Potchefstroom magistrates’ court on Wednesday.’

The provincial commissioner of NW SAPS, Lt-Genl Baile Motswenyane congratulated the Ikageng detectives for the quick response that led to the suspect’s arrest.

The second murder took place in Kgabo Street on the same morning. The police were called to the scene and found an unknown male lying on the ground. Emergency services personnel later certified him dead.

According to Trom, the body had stab wounds on the chest, ribs and at the back of the head. ‘All relevant personnel attended to the scene and transported the deceased to the mortuary.
‘No one has been arrested. The police are requesting the public to assist them with any information,’ she said.
