The sweetest day of the year, this Saturday

Cupcakes of Hope assists up to 70 cancer patients a month by paying towards their medical treatments or other day-to-day expenses like food, clothing and transport for hospital visits. All of these patients go through a stringent registration process that includes the submission of doctors’ letters specifying their diagnosis.

Cupcakes of Hope will host South Africa’s 7th National Cupcake Day for children with cancer on 29 September. This community-driven project depends on ‘cupcake angels’ to ‘bake’ a difference in the lives of children with cancer.
Sandy Cipriano started the non-profit company (NPC 2012/103028/08) and public benefit organisation (PBO 930053726) in 2012. Its mission is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for the children who need medical and financial assistance. They do this mostly through the cupcake angels’ love of baking.
Cipriano believes everyone can make a difference in this world with a bit of time and loads of love. The only requirement is that your cupcakes must be made with love.
‘The dedication and love of our volunteers have enabled us to bless so many kids fighting cancer over the years. They range in age from as young as three to ninety-year-olds – from scholars to lawyers and pensioners.’

Becoming a cupcake angel is by far the sweetest way to save a life. To take part in National Cupcake Day, visit www.cupcakesofhope.org to find your nearest participating mall. Then contact the mall coordinator to make your pledge of 24 or 48 cupcakes. The public can support the cause on the day by making a R10 donation for a delicious cupcake.
Companies and schools can also get involved by hosting awareness events in September to support children with cancer. To receive your free Angel party pack, contact Sandy@cupcakesofhope.org.
Last week, Cupcakes of Hope and Mugg & Bean celebrated the launch of the nationwide #GiveMore campaign for children with cancer.
Mugg & Bean is supporting this inspiring initiative by donating the proceeds from the sales of their giant muffins towards Cupcakes of Hope for #cupcakes4kidswithcancer. The franchise will be driving this initiative in all their restaurants. For every giant muffin purchased, they will donate R5 to Cupcakes of Hope.
To make an even greater impact, you will also be able to donate through the gifting option on the M&B app. #GiveMore and donate your reward beans to Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer.
Once you download the app, you will automatically receive R25 worth of reward beans, which you can choose to donate to this worthy cause through a special gifting profile and become a ‘giant of generosity’.
‘We are so grateful to have the support of Mugg & Bean and I look forward to the awesome #GiveMore campaign that will bless so many cancer children in 2018/2019,’ says Sandy.
