A 36-year-old woman from Ikageng claims that her ex-boyfriend raped her on Sunday morning.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng police spokesperson, the woman alleges that she woke up to find her former boyfriend on top of her in the act of raping her.
‘The man had already pulled down her pants and continued raping her even after she screamed for help and pleaded with him to leave her alone,’ said Trom.
She says the man then got dressed and left the house that the victim shares with a family member.
This is the third rape incident within ten days. The previous incidents occurred on 30 June when a 26-year-old woman and 12-year-old teen girl were allegedly raped in two separate incidents.
An unknown man grabbed and raped the woman as she was walking from one of the pubs at about 03:15 that Saturday morning.
In the second incident, the girl was walking to a tuckshop in Baipei, Sonderwater at about 19:30 when someone she knows allegedly raped her.
