The Ikageng police are investigating a murder case after a passer-by discovered the body of a 53-year-old man in Zwane Street at about 05:45 on Tuesday.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the SAPS spokesperson, the man had been bleeding from the head and may have been beaten with an unknown object. His shoes were lying next to him.
Trom says the police received a call from the member of the K9 Unit who was on his way to work. ‘Upon their arrival at the scene, the complainant said bystanders had stopped him to tell him about the victim.
She says the paramedics declared the person dead on the scene and handed his body over to the state pathologists.
At this stage, no one has been arrested. Trom is urging anyone with information to please call the head of detectives, Johan Scholtz on 082 568 6264 or contact the Ikageng police station.
