A husband and wife, both 50 years old were arrested in Ext. 7 Ikageng last Friday, after being found in possession of 12 bags of dagga.

A husband and wife, both 50 years old were arrested in Ext. 7 Ikageng last Friday, after being found in possession of 12 bags of dagga.

According to Lt-Col Amanda Funani, the Potchefstroom Public Order Police (POP) Unit was responsible for the arrest for illegal possession of drugs. ‘The arrests followed a tip-off about suspected dagga-dealing activity at a certain house in Ext. 7. The police followed up and, upon conducting a search of the house, they found the dagga with an estimated street value of R15 000.

The North West provincial commissioner, Lt-Gen. Baile Motswenyane applauded the community of Ikageng for collaborating with the police in the fight against drugs. She said the cooperation between the police and members of the community is vital for a safer tomorrow.
The recent arrest comes after the k9 unit patrol arrested two men two weeks ago for possession of dagga worth R28 000.
