David Shomolekae was found guilty of the murder of 16-year-old Lesley Makousa in the Potchefstroom High Court today.
The 31-year-old Shomolekae appeared before Judge David Makhobo who found him guilty on three counts. He was found guilty of killing Lesley by strangling him with a shoelace, assaulting him and robbing him of his phone and house key, and stealing a stove and phone belonging to Lesley’s mother, Pamela.
On 6 August last year, the lifeless body of Lesley, a Gr. 10 learner at Promosa Secondary School, was discovered by a passerby in the desolate bushes in Promosa.
Sentencing will take place in the Potchefstroom High Court at 09:00 tomorrow.
