I will kill him if he sets foot here – mother of raped 10-year-old

‘He raped my daughter on my bed. I’m devastated and enraged right now; if I get my hands on him I will kill him.’

‘He raped my daughter on my bed. I’m devastated and enraged right now; if I get my hands on him I will kill him.’
These are the chilling words from the mother of the 10-year-old victim in Ext. 11 who told the Herald of the pain and anguish she has to deal with after the incident.
‘Why didn’t he ask me to have sex with him instead of raping my little girl because I know what to expect? I would have given him what he wanted.’
The 44-year-old mother who broke down during the interview says she cannot eat and cries every time she looks at her daughter, a Gr. 4 learner. ‘This has affected my daughter emotionally and she is still in shock. I can see in her eyes how she is suffering,’ said the mother.
Const. Kelebogile Trom, Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, confirmed that the complainant had opened a case of rape against her 28-year-old tenant at the Ikageng police station. She says the incident took place at about 21:00 on Monday. He was arrested later that night.
The mother says she, her 8-month-old baby and her daughter were on her way back from their neighbour’s house. They were standing against the wall next door with the neighbour when she told her daughter to go home.
‘After a few minutes, I also went home and found my daughter standing in the doorway shaking. The tenant was also standing in the doorway of the room he rents from me, half naked with only his shorts on,’ she said.
The mother says she took her daughter inside the house and asked her what had happened. The girl told her that the tenant had raped her. When the woman took the child to her neighbour to tell her what had happened, she repeated the same story.
She says the doctor has confirmed that she had been raped but said they were still waiting for more test results.
The mother cannot believe what took place on the same bed that she sleeps on. The suspect rents a room in the yard and stays with his girlfriend.
‘He left his girlfriend on his bed and went to rape my daughter,’ she ranted.
‘I do not want to see him. I have heard that he is going to get bail. How can you grant bail to such a monster when he is a threat to my daughter’s life? What will happen if he decides to kill my little girl because he is the suspect and she is the victim in this case? I will be disappointed in the justice system if they grant him bail. There are so many rapists roaming the streets,’ she said in despair.
The suspect appeared in court earlier this week but it is not known whether or not he was granted bail.
