Community member jumps in to assist schoolboy with new uniform

The story of a constable with a heart of gold has reached a community member who works at one of the general practitioners in town.

Kholekile Emily Makhalanyane read the article in the Herald and was deeply touched by the story of a young boy’s first day at school. He was even more moved by his family of fifteen that lives in abject poverty and shares a four-roomed RDP house in Greenfield.

‘I couldn’t stop telling my co-workers about Tebele Modiboa who never dreamed that he would ever attend school and who was now in need of a school uniform. I immediately called the owner of the shop that sells school uniforms and told him about what I had read in the Herald. He told me to bring the boy into the shop,’ she said.
‘On Monday, I met Tebele and Const. Moeketsi Mosiane at the shop and immediately started picking out the items for the boy. When I took them to the counter, the owner said I only had to pay for the school shoes and that he would donate the rest of the school uniform.’
Tebele got a pair of trousers, a shirt, jersey, a pair of socks, a T-shirt, and PT shorts.
The shop owner has promised to sponsor his uniform in the next coming years,’ she says excitedly.
Makhalanyane has always been involved in community projects at her church. ‘Every day, I ask God to grant me the strength to continue assisting the community, especially those less fortunate than I am.’
The caring woman chatted to the boy and encouraged him to study hard and focus on his books. She also had a special word of thanks for Const. Mosiane, who put her in touch with the family that had so little.
Anyone who is willing to contribute should contact Const. Kelebogile Trom on 082 374 0271 or Const. Moeketsi Mosiane on 083 998 0345.
