A 41-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 31-year-old wife in Ext. 7 at about 22:30 on Sunday. The motive for the murder is still unknown.

According to Ikageng SAPS spokesperson, Const. Kelebogile Trom, the suspect, who is now in police custody, shot Gaeratwe Cerina Koele in her right hip and the left side of her stomach.
She was transported to the hospital in a bakkie and later died there.
The family is still in shock after the incident and claim the couple did not show any sign of unhappiness. In fact, they say, all they saw was two people madly in love.
Dorah Roberts (51), the suspect’s aunt, was also very close to the deceased. She says she is baffled by the tragic events because the couple has no history of domestic violence. ‘I have never seen Cerina with a black eye or heard them arguing. They were deeply in love and always looked happy. They liked to come to family gatherings and funerals to help out.
‘Sometimes, when Satan sees happiness and love, he enters and destroys everything beautiful,’ she said. For now, however, the family will have to console themselves in the hope that truth will prevail as the police investigation progresses.
The couple has a 13-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter.
