Die Potchefstroomkampus van die Noordwes-Universiteit is tans kalm en rustig. Naas die normale akademiese program, was ʼn gradeplegtigheid ook vandag op die kampus gehou. Die georganiseerde studentelewe se beplande blikkieskosdag het vandag meer as 38 000 blikkieskos vir die gemeenskap en medestudente opgelewer.
Die Universiteit is bewus van heelwat vals berigte wat veral op sosiale media versprei word. Omsigtigheid met sulke inligting word gevra omdat dit onnodige vrese skep. ʼn Beroep word gedoen om slegs inligting wat op die NWU-Pukke se Facebookblad verskyn, of sms’e van die Universiteit as betroubare inligting te beskou. As voorbeeld, is die gerug dat studente vanaf die Mafikengkampus na die Potchefstroomkampus oorgeplaas gaan word, onwaar en onmoontlik.
Die Kampusbestuur beskou dit as ʼn hoë prioriteit om studente, ouers en personeel voortdurend in te lig. Goeie en betroubare moniteringstelsels is in plek. Addisionele sekuriteit is reeds ingehuur.
Wees verseker dat u op hoogte gehou sal word en dat die Universiteit met groot omsigtigheid die huidige situasie monitor en bestuur.
The Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University is currently calm and peaceful. In addition to the normal academic program, a graduation ceremony was also held on campus today. The organized student life’s planned canned food day collected more than 38 000 cans of food for the community as well as students in need.
The University is aware of numerous false reports that is being distributed especially on social media. We ask for caution and consideration with such information as it causes unnecessary fears. We request that only information which is posted on the NWU-Pukke’s Facebook page, or SMS’s from the University be viewed as reliable information. As an example: the rumour that students from the Mafikeng Campus will be transferred to the Potchefstroom Campus is both untrue and impossible.
Campus management views it as the highest of priorities to keep students, parents and personnel informed on a regular basis. Effective and reliable monitoring systems are in place and additional security has been hired.
