Courageous Constable fatally shot by lover

A fatal gunshot through the right ear ended the promising career of 27-year-old Ikageng police Constable, Mane Minah Moletsane.

A fatal gunshot through the right ear ended the promising career of 27-year-old Ikageng police Constable, Mane Minah Moletsane.
Moletsane was allegedly shot by her 40-year-old boyfriend in Ikageng township in the early hours of Monday morning. NW Police spokesperson, Capt. Paul Ramaloko says the constable’s boyfriend allegedly shot and killed her during a domestic dispute.
“The suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime and his firearm was confiscated. He was taken into police custody,” he said.
According to Ramaloko, Moletsane was recruited into the police force in 2009. She trained at SAPS Tshwane Training Academy for 2 years and did her field training in Ikageng thereafter. At the time of her death, she was stationed at the Potchefstroom provincial office.
Her friend and colleague, Const. Kelebogile Trom described Moletsane as respectful, lively, courageous, obedient and passionate about her job. She says Moletsane loved to laugh and got along with all her colleagues.
“She was very family-oriented and a nurturing person. All she spoke about was her love for her mother, siblings and relatives and providing for them. It’s sad to lose a person, at her age, who had a promising career. All of us at the station are going to miss her,” said Trom.
Moletsane’s childhood friend, Angel Seleke, described her as a bubbly, loving, generous person who was always smiling and who put everyone’s needs before her own. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, and she will be laid to rest in Ikageng on Saturday.
