A knife fight between five men recently led to the discovery of illegal dagga and the arrest of two men.
According to Mooirivier Beskerming reaction manager Errol Collins, cleaners at Trimpark alerted Mooirivier Beskerming vehicle on patrol. “The security guards went to investigate and encountered five men in a fight.
One of the men tried to stab one of the Mooirivier Beskerming guards. The guards called for back-up, which showed up accompanied by ER24 medical services. The fight was stopped, and the men were searched. Small bags of dagga and knives were confiscated. The SAPS were informed, and arrested two people for illegal possession of dagga,” says Collins.
Thabang Matlhatsi was one of the men involved in the fight. According to Matlhatsi the fight started after he demanded money owed to him, for winter slippers he found in a rubbish-bin near Grillers restaurant. One of the arrested men, promised to give him R30 for the slippers, but failed to pay Matlhatsi on time. “I have been nagging him for days to give me my money to buy food and washing powder. On Monday, he called me to Trimpark and promised to pay me. I obliged and went there with my friends, but instead he offered us dagga which we refused.
