You will now pay more for your Takealot order

The minimum threshold for free delivery has also been increased.

Takealot has increased its delivery fees and the minimum amount for which customers qualify for free delivery. Orders must now be at least R650 to qualify for free delivery.

The standard delivery fee is now R95 if you want to have your order delivered on the same day. Getting a parcel delivered the next day now costs R90, but R75 if you have ordered items for a minimum of R650.

Some residents of Potchefstroom feel that with the new increase, they will rather support local small businesses instead of Takealot. Others feel that even with the price increase, the quality and prices of Takealot are still reasonable.

“For electronics you can look on Amazon. Sometimes their prices are better than Takealot’s. But yes, from one devil to another,” Willem Barnard said on Facebook.

“You can still order by knowing and comparing your prices. In many cases, Takealot is still cheaper,” Christa Meyer Rautenbach said.

Izelda Jacobs feels it is much better to support local small businesses as you know exactly what you are getting and it is not necessary to pay delivery fees.

“It is also much easier to return something if you are not happy with it. It is sometimes difficult to return things with Takealot and you have to wait to get your money back.”
