Talented presenter may be radio presenter of the year

Mogomotsi is very excited about the nomination.

Mogomotsi Ntehelang, local radio presenter at the North-West University’s (NWU) Mahikeng Campus, has been nominated for the North West Media Awards in the Radio Presenter of the Year category.

Mogomotsi, who was born and raised in Mafikeng with her mom and twin sibling, joined NWUFM in 2022 when she was a first year BA communication student.

“We grew up indoors and never really went out and played with other kids. I would say that’s where my love for radio came about.”

She says that broadcasting is her way of expressing herself.

“The thought of being able to express yourself anonymously and share experiences with other beings was just extraordinary for me, cherry on top is to change someone’s life just being behind the mic and sharing insightful information and quotes- that being the foundation and building my love for broadcasting.”

Mogomotsi’s favourite part of working at NWUFM is being able to inspire people and she is still in shock after hearing about the nomination.

“I’m still in shock, I knew I had audience however I never really thought I was that impactful to be nominated, however it shows that my craft is recognized and received positively by the community and that leaves me in great joy.”

Mogomotsi says however, she does have big dreams when it comes to broadcasting.

“At this point, I’m dreaming of that one specific radio station in the North West that I’ve always aspired to work at. I hope my craft is big enough to reach them. We can only trust the process. I love advertising, marketing, and branding. Joining an organisation and being part of the marketing team is a top goal for me.”

She says she is a very sensitive person and always stives to balance being honest with being kind.

“I have always been about the people, so I’m passionate about seeing people grow, learn, and become something that they have always worked so hard to get. I’m all about helping someone reach that, even if it means limiting time to myself.”

The judging and voting periods for the North West Radio Awards will run from 1 August to 30 November. The grand awards ceremony will take place on 6 December at the Orion Safari Hotel in Rustenburg.
