Poortjiedam substation has been vandalized and the electrical protection of the substation has been seriously damaged and compromised. To avoid further damage, the substation will need to be switched off in order to commence repairs.
Unfortunately, Promosa and Mohadin will be without power during the duration of the repairs as this substation is the main distribution point.
Hans-Jurie Moolman, DA councillor, says that there has not been established which repairs will commence or when. There is also no indication of when the power outage will happen and for how long it will last. “If there are infrastructure repairs to be done, the power will have to be cut off. Unfortunately, Promosa has been dealing with a lot of power outages lately due to unlawful power connections.”
