An accident occurred a few minutes before 2:00 on 5 April, Friday morning. A Lesotho citizen, Anna Ranketu (31), died during the incident. The accident happened on the N12; the vehicle was on the Nelson Mandela bridge entering Potchefstroom when the accident happened. Colonel Adele Myburgh explains that the driver of a Mitsubishi bakkie allegedly lost control of the vehicle after which the vehicle hit a lamp pole. The deceased, Anna Ranketu, was flung from the vehicle upon impact. “Paramedics declared her dead on the scene,” Col. Myburgh stated. Col. Myburgh added that the driver of the Mitsubish bakkie is still hospitalized. “A culpable homicide case is under investigation.”
