Potch Dorp’s youngsters shine against Ikageng

Tommie Botha (Gimmies) and Louis van Wyk (Volkies) were the main run-scorers for Potch Dorp.

Potch Dorp 1 and Ikageng were involved in a low-scoring clash at the Witrand Oval that Potch Dorp won by 2 wickets on Saturday, 6 April.

Ikageng were bundled out for only 131 in 26.3 overs in their first innings in this North West Club Cricket Premier A-league match.

Tommie Botha (1/5) took the early of Junior Mathe for a duck. A cluster of wickets soon followed with Olefa Padi (2/29) and Jurgen Angers (2/17) being the standouts.

Lucky Kitime with 45 from 55 balls was the standout batsman for Ikageng as he tried his best in tough circumstances.

Potch Dorp got off to a steady start in their reply as Tommie Botha with 49 from 91 balls and Louis van Wyk (38 from 71 balls) constructed a 82-run partnership. Botha, a Gimmies learner, and Van Wyk from Volkies showed teamwork for their club.

When Botha was dismissed with the score on 123, a flurry of wickets soon followed to leave Dorp on 127/8.

Angers though stood firm as he scored the necessary winning runs to take Dorp to which should have been a much more comfortable victory.
