Dragons and Titans to main event doubleheader at J.B. Marks Oval

The men in maroon and grey will hope to improve on their mid-table position in the final 7 matches scheduled for April.

The Dragons are in full throttle for their CSA T20 Challenge clash against the Titans at the J.B. Marks Oval at 14:00 on 1 April, which should be a thrilling match.

It will be a special day at the J.B. Marks Oval, with a doubleheader on the go. The Dolphins and KZN Inland Tuskers will face each other at 10:00 in a KZN derby before the Dragons and Titans lock horns in the main event at 14:00.

Gates will already open at 08:00.

It promises to be eight hours of action-filled cricket on the day, which should have a considerable effect on the log with all four teams wanting to climb the proverbial ladder to the coveted semi-final spots.

The Dragons finished the first round of matches on 11 points with 2 wins, 4 losses and a draw via a no-result.

The Dragons have beaten the Rocks (7 wickets) and Tuskers (125 runs), while losing to the Titans (13 runs), Lions (9 wickets), Western Province (4 runs) and Warriors (24 runs).

Rubin Hermann is the leading run-scorer for the Dragons.

The men in maroon and grey will hope to improve on their mid-table position in the final 7 matches scheduled for April.

The Dragons face the Titans on the back of a disappointing result against the Warriors last Sunday, 24 March, in an away fixture at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.

The North West Dragons could not stop the Warriors juggernaut and lost by 24 runs to the unbeaten Warriors as they failed to reach an imposing total of 186/5. Sinethemba Qeshile (51* off 30 balls) and Patrick Kruger (46 off 21) put on a match-winning 93-run partnership for the fifth wicket that took the game away from the Dragons.

The Dragons showed tenacity in the chase with Lesiba Ngoepe scoring an unbeaten 45, while Raynard van Tonder hit 34. The hero of the Dragons’ win against the Rocks last week, Rubin Hermann, was dismissed for 10 as his run of form was halted.

A middle- and lower-order collapse ended the Dragons hopes, though, as they went from 94/4 to 130/7 in the space of 3 overs.

The run rate started climbing and a disciplined Warriors attack prevailed on the day. Beyers Swanepoel (2/28), JP King (2/13) and Renaldo Meyer (2/38) were the pick of the Warriors’ bowlers.
