Gr. 7 learners at Promosa Primary School recently came together to participate in a day of intervention.
The objective was to teach the learners the importance of working together as a team, by shifting the focus from their differences to the strengths of each learner.
Jacqueline Bowers Bester at Shekinah Lighthouse of Glory and Hope in Promosa hosted the day of intervention activities.
She thanked the staff of Shekinah Lighthouse for their enthusiasm to participate and help during the event.
The learners were advised to put aside their differences and challenges and use their unique strengths to work together as a group. Organisers at Shekinah Lighthouse were hopeful that these activities and intervention therapy would result in learners treating each other and others with respect.
They aimed to get learners to stop discriminating against others for their differences and keep them from labelling each other. The activities could also address bullying between learners. Jacqueline presented the programme and activities that focused on different levels of skill development, like solving challenges, communicating as a group, and supporting each other. The day’s activities showed learners that despite their differences they could achieve great outcomes when working as a team.
