Dragons demolish Rocks by an innings in Paarl

The North West Dragons finish the CSA 4-Day series in 6th place, their highest finish since the division 1 format started in the 21/22 season.

Gideon Peters claimed his first five wicket haul in first class cricket (5/48) to help the North West Dragons to a convincing innings and 48 run victory in the CSA 4-Day Series against the Rocks in Paarl.

The Dragons bowled the Rocks out for 253 in their first innings after the men from Potch had made a commanding 484 all out.

Dragons captain, Wihan Lubbe, then sent the Rocks back in to follow on, where they were bowled out for 183 in their second innings this morning.

Other excellent performers for the Dragons with the ball were leg-spinner Caleb Seleka with match figures of 6/89 and Duan Jansen with match figures of 4/69.

The top batsmen for the Dragons were undoubtedly, Lesego Senokwane, who lead from the front with 137. Lesiba Ngoepe (89), Migael Pretorius (93) and Bamanye Xenxe (67*) further added to the Rocks misery. It was also Xenxe’s first first class half-century.

The Dragons end their CSA 4-Day campaign on a high note in 6th place on the table and will pick up 3 crucial log points.

The Lions will face Western Province in the 4-Day Series final on Wednesday, 28 February at the Wanderers to crown the champion this season.
