Students warned against application scams

The individuals promise to admit students, in exchange for payment, even when their applications are unsuccessful

The North-West University issued a statement this past week, urging prospective students to be cautious of individuals around campus who promise to facilitate admission to the university.

“These criminal elements promise to admit students, in exchange for payment, even when their applications are unsuccessful,” reads the statement on the NWU’s website.

“The university processes payments exclusively through its official financial systems. The banking details are available on the website, and our finance department can assist those who must pay for registration. Applications to study at the NWU are free.”

The university also stated that the SAPS is investigating this scam. Report perpetrators or fraudulent incidents to the protection services department (Building F17) or contact the following numbers:
018 299 2215 / 2211 and 081 897 5671.
