Senwes Park will be the battlefield when the Bizhub Highveld Lions’ and Sunfoil Dolphins’ cricketing armies fight it out on Friday, 5 February for vital log points in the Momentum One-Day Cup.

The war rages on for playoff spots with three places up for grabs before the end of the season. Each match from now on is crucial and could either be a step back to the drawing board or a step closer to trophy success.

The Lions are currently in the third place on the log but have endured a see-saw campaign thus far, with three losses and three draws. The Dolphins are in deeper waters in fifth and they will need to start swimming with the big boys soon.

The Lions beat the Warriors by four runs last week with new Proteas opener, Stephen Cook leading the way with yet another century. He was ably supported by North West’s own, Nicky van den Bergh, who scored a quick 45. The latter could get another chance at his home ground on Friday.

The Dolphins sunk to a 68-run defeat against the venomous Cape Cobras team at Newlands at the weekend and have lost track after a good start to the season.

The Lions will need to watch out for Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Khaya Zondo who can damage opposition with the bat.

All in all, it should be an enthralling day-night match at the home of cricket in Potchefstroom.

Tickets are R50 for adults and R40 for scholars. They are available at Ticketpro and at Senwes Park.

The match starts at 14:00.
