NW Club Cricket Premier League to go down to the wire

Potch Dorp 1 is currently in second spot, just one point behind NWU on 36 points.

The Wohnen/Top Paints North West Club Cricket Premier League is set to go down to the wire this coming weekend with Potch Dorp 1 and NWU Pukke battling it out for supremacy in the final round of fixtures.

Potch Dorp take on The Geek Cricket Academy at the Witrand Oval, whilst NWU take on Ikageng. Both sides should gain comfortable victories but will need to win by huge margins to gain enough bonus points. Potch Dorp is currently in second spot, just one point behind NWU on 36 points.

They strolled past NWU Taurus this past weekend with an 8 wicket win. Christopher de Freitas hit an unbeaten 41* and JP le Roux once again showed his experience with the ball claiming 3/31 in 10 overs.

Potch Dorp 2 almost did the first team a favour when they narrowly lost to NWU by 3 wickets this past weekend in a low scoring encounter. NWU had to scrap to get to the victory target of 141 with only Lourén Steenkamp with 59 showing resistance. Earlier AJ Jacobs once again showed his worth with a superb spell of 6/29.

Another highlight of the weekend an unbeaten 219* (148) from Ibbies’ Ruan van Tonder against The Geek Cricket Academy. Ibbies compiled a massive 449/4 in their 50 overs with Henro Janse van Rensburg with a quickfire 83 (40) and Nizaar Cook (80 from 88 balls) providing support.

The Geek Cricket Academy could only muster 91 all out and suffered a huge 358 run defeat.
