Teen allegedly assaulted by family member

On Sunday, 23 August around 05:45, the police went to Potchefstroom Hospital to attend a complaint of a 14-year-old who was allegedly assaulted.

According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, police spokesperson, a 41-year-old woman, who is said to be the mother of the young boy accompanied the police to the ward where he was admitted to. “They found a 14-year-old boy lying on the bed. He had visible head injuries and a swollen eye, ” said Trom.

It is suspected that the boy was assaulted by a close relative. The police are investigating a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
