Die Wilge’s Bathabile Masigo shows loads of class at LSEN Cricket Week

Masigo ended with 17 wickets with best figures of 5/18. He also hit 2 fifties and one magnificent hundred.

If there is one batsman who staked his claim at one of North West’s brightest LSEN cricketers, it can be none other than Bathabile Masigo of Die Wilge High School. Masigo was named the best batsman and bowler of the turnament for his effort. Masigo especially showed this yesterday (Thursday, 26 September) when he smashed 140 (126) against Gauteng yesterday at the CSA 2019 LSEN Cricket Week in Potchefstroom.

Masigo took the Gauteng bowlers to the cleaners in a knock that included 21 fours and consisted of a variety of creative shots such as reverse sweeps and down the track drives.

In total, North West won two out of their five matches, with Die Wilge’s Masigo and Lesego Seikaneng doing most of the damage during the week. Masigo ended with 17 wickets with best figures of 5/18. He also hit 2 fifties and one magnificent hundred.

Earlier The North West LSEN team got off to the perfect start as they beat Gauteng by the first innings at the Jool A-field on Monday, 23 September.
It was the bowling genius of Masigo from that led NW to the win when he picked up 4/16 in 10 overs.
Thabang Hlobo also contributed with 4/21 to restrict Gauteng to 125 all out.
North West made 219/4 in reply, with Motheo Seleke making a superb 50 (97) that anchored the innings. Die Wilge’s sporting superstar, Lesego Seikaneng, also hit a quickfire 47 (42), which included five fours and three sixes.

Seikaneng and Masigo were both rewarded for a fantastic week in Noreh West colours, when they were selected in the LSEN SA team (team of the tournament).
