The deadliest Al-Qaeda terrorist attack recorded on American soil took place in the morning of 11 September 2001, which resonated with the entire world as fear and panic engulfed New York on this fateful day. Islamic extremist suicide bombers hijacked four airplanes, with two of them crashing into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.
The first plane, an American Airlines boeing 767 crashed, into the North tower causing an explosion of fire, smoke and debris. About 18 minutes later a second plane was caught on live television crashing into the second tower.
Approxamitely 3000 people died during the attack, which included firefighters and police officers who attemped to aid those in need.
Today marks the 17th anniverssary of the 9/11 attacks and at this moment more than 1000 victims are yet to be identified.
