North West Cricket, the home of the Dragons, yesterday (30 November) announced the appointment of Vincent Prior as their Chief Executive Officer. He will assume responsibilities on  2 January 2018. Prior succeeds Heinrich Strydom who resigned in June 2017 to join the Dolphins as the their CEO in Kwazulu-Natal.

Prior comes from a sporting background, having been a member of the South African National Men’s Hockey team during his playing days. He is an experienced businessman and entrepreneur who brings much needed fresh thinking and innovative perspective to the dynamic and hard-working North West Cricket management team.

“We embarked on a process to find someone who will lead the management team and staff in pursuit of our ambitious growth plan and take North West Cricket to the next level, building on what our previous CEO’s have been able to achieve,” commented Dr Uupa Nkagisang – President of North West Cricket.

“We congratulate Vincent on his appointment and welcome him to the Dragons family. We are confident that with his energy, entrepreneurial spirit, innovative and strategic thinking, he will be a valuable member of the management team that will help us realize our dreams.”

Prior is currently Group Operations Manager of StitchWise – a company supplying innovative safety products for the mining industry, where he has had a successful career in a very challenging environment.

His qualifications include a B.Com degree in Risk Management and an MBA, and he brings sound operations management, sales and marketing, project management, negotiation and stakeholder management expertise to his new position, which will be invaluable for building a strong commercial element and sound governance of North West Cricket.

“I would like to thank the Board for the confidence they have shown in me and for affording me this opportunity. I look forward to joining the team and fulfilling our vision of making North West Cricket one of the best cricket unions in the country,” commented Prior. ”While I will be building on the solid foundation laid by those who have led this great organization before me, I would like to explore new initiatives that will ensure sustainability in a fast changing world.”

“The Board would like thank one of its Non-Executive Directors, Joe Maswanganyi, who stood in as Acting CEO and stabilized our operations while leading the search process, for his invaluable contribution,” added Dr. Nkagisang.
