The Leopards Women’s team officially received their kit for the new season at a ceremony held at Olën Park on Thursday evening, 27 July.
Amid the history and heroes on these walls, a new generation of women’s rugby players will want to make their mark for the historic Leopards Rugby Union.
The Leopards coach, Jonathan Mokuena, inspired the ladies with words of wisdom and presented each player with their kit.
‘It is a great honour to be able to put on a Leopards jersey. Play with commitment and do your best. Enjoy every minute like it’s your last,’ he encouraged.
The team manager, Henriëtte Pretorius emphasised the need for teamwork and to take opportunities given to them with the first match against the Lions ahead at Olën Park on Saturday 5 August. ‘Well done, ladies. This is a tremendous achievement. Play your hearts out and do your very best against the Lions,’ she added.
Sanet Ludick will act as the head coach while Angelo Jacobs is the assistant coach and the medic of the team.
The season opener against the Lions will kick off at Olën Park at 12:00 and will be a rugby feast like no other, where support will go a long way to securing a home victory on debut.
