A single moment of inspiration was enough as a goal from the relatively unknown Eder, gave Portugal their first ever major international trophy with a 1-0 win against the host, France. The match that was held in Paris at the glorious Stade de France, was a cagey affair with defence being the name of the game. In the end, Portugal’s defence stood firm, whilst they used their opportunities – something that France did not do.
