Dr. Sabelile Tenza: A leader in patient safety and quality in healthcare

Dr. Sabelile Tenza, a Senior Lecturer at North-West University and a renowned expert in quality healthcare and patient safety. Her forthcoming collaboration with the Potchefstroom Herald aims to enhance public education on critical healthcare topics, bridging academia and community awareness.

Dr. Sabelile Tenza, a prominent Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the School of Nursing Science at North-West University (NWU), is making waves in the field of public health and patient safety. With a distinguished career spanning research, education, and community service, Dr. Tenza has established herself as a leading expert in quality healthcare and patient safety.

Dr. Tenza earned her PhD in Public Health with a focus on Health Systems and Policy from the University of the Witwatersrand. At NWU, she imparts her extensive knowledge as a Research Methodology Lecturer and a post-graduate research supervisor. Her research primarily addresses Quality in Healthcare and Patient Safety, areas where she has made significant contributions.

In recognition of her expertise and dedication, Dr. Tenza has achieved several notable distinctions. She is a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (FISQUA) and a Fellow for Health Professionals Education Leadership (AHPEL). Additionally, she serves as a Mentor to clinicians and emerging academics and has been recognized as a published author and award-winning conference speaker. Her editorial roles include serving as an Assistant Deputy Editor for the International Journal for Quality in Health Care (IJQHC) and PLOS ONE journals.

Dr. Tenza’s commitment to healthcare extends beyond academia. In March 2024, she was honored with the uMzimkhulu Youth Empowerment (UYE) Community Award for her patriotism and unwavering dedication to community development in KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. This accolade underscores her profound impact on both her professional field and the broader community.

Adding to her remarkable achievements, Dr. Tenza will soon collaborate with the Potchefstroom Herald to further her mission of educating the public on critical healthcare issues.
