Dragons ready for clash with KZN teams

The Dragons will face the KZN Inland Tuskers tonight (Wednesday, 3 April) at the J.B. Marks Oval, before taking on the Dolphins on Sunday at the same venue.

The battle for the top four semi-final positions is heating up in the CSA T20 Challenge with the tournament passing the halfway stage this past weekend. Rain put a damper on proceedings between the Dragons and Titans on Monday, 1 April as both teams had to be content with two points, instead of a possible four.

The match was abandoned due to rain after the Titans had made 139/4 after 17.1 overs in their first innings.

The Dragons, who are in fifth place on the log and in reach of the top four know full well that wins will be vital in the hunt for a top four spot.

Their next two challenges are at home to the KZN Inland Tuskers today (Wednesday, 3 April) at 18:00 and the is coming Sunday, 7 April when they take on the Dolphins at home at the J.B. Marks Oval at 14:00.

The Dolphins are their nearest rival in fourth spot on 19 points. A win for the Dragons (on 13 points) could push them into fourth spot, whilst a loss will have the opposite effect, as they could see their chances dwindling away.

The Dragons have had an interesting campaign with numerous highlights such as the form of opener, Rubin Hermann with the bat, as well as solid contributions with the ball from the likes of all-rounder, Migael Pretorius.

NW Dragons head coach, Craig Alexander, is confident that his team can produce the goods against the Dolphins on Sunday.

“Every game is a crucial game for us. My feeling is that we need to be peaking at the right time. We want to get momentum with results. We have shown glimpses of good performances throughout the tournament. It’s time that we tick that winning boxes now. We have home advantage and we are playing good cricket. The attitude in the change room is really good at the moment. We are looking forward to the next seven games. The goal is to win the trophy,” mentioned Alexander.

*The Warriors are currently top of the log and unbeaten on 35 points. The Lions are second on 21 points, with Western Province third on 21 points (lower net run-rate) and the Dolphins fourth on 19 points.
