Potch school cricketers ready to stake claim at national weeks

The u.19 boys team that takes on the best SA has to offer at the Khaya Majola Week, includes local stars like Ludwich Schuld, Berno de Klerk, Lunga May from Volkies Potch and Caiden Seleka, Marnu Cronje and Zavier van Rensburg from Potch Gimmies.

Potchefstroom’s top school cricketers were recently selected for the prestigious CSA National Cricket weeks in December.
North West Cricket hosted the Provincial Age Groups 2023 capping ceremony at the J.B. Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Sunday, 19 November.

The u.19 boys team that takes on the best SA has to offer at the Khaya Majola Week, includes local stars like Ludwich Schuld, Berno de Klerk, Lunga May from Volkies Potch and Caiden Seleka, Marnu Cronje and Zavier van Rensburg from Potch Gimmies.

Schuld was also selected for the SA A side last year and will look to perform at national level once again to book a spot in the team of the tournament during the 2023 Khaya Majola Week and qualify for the Cubs Week in Stellenbosch from 5 to 9 January 2024.

The u.19 girls team also has a distinct Potch flavour, with Dragons captain Nthabiseng Nini of HTS Potch leading the side.

Deidré van Rensburg, Tlotlo Bogatsu (Gimmies) and the impressive Tshegofatso Monyela of Saints Christian School, add extra fire power to this u.19 team.

Attie Liebenberg was chosen for the u.17 urban side, alongside fellow Volkie team-mate Kobus Pienaar.

Gimmie all-rounder Tommie Botha, and wicket-keeper James Wood, were also chosen in this team.
Botha’s younger brother, Ulrich, was
another Gimmie who made the u.15 urban team, alongside Righardt Joubert, Thlone Thabatha and Henré Cronjé.
Ikageng Hub also had three representatives in the NW u.15 team, namely, Thato Masigo, Kopano Moremogolo and Oratile Motingwe.

Potchefstroom-based players in the NW
u.15 team include Simoné van der Linde, Frede-né Venter, Elzaan Erasmus (all Potch Gimmies) and Boipelo Phakedi, Siyanda Fumba, Otshepeng Gabaotswe and Oratile Kujane (all Ikageng Hub).

Louis van Wyk, Themba Sotjane, Olefa Padi (all Potch Volkies), Jahndré Coetzee (Potch Gimmies) and Olebogeng Scott (Ikageng Hub) were selected for the NW
u.16 boys team.
