Saints Christian School’s u.13A cricket captain, Reabetswe Dithipe, is breaking boundaries as one of her school’s most talented cricketers.
Dithipe has been in sensational form with both bat and ball, being named the player of the tournament for the North West U.13 Junior Boys Club League.
Her talent coincides with the rise of girls and women’s cricket across the globe and showcases the talent that is being nurtured in North West.
Since the age of 9 she has been featuring in boys’ teams and playing against boys her age. More often than not she has gained the upper hand with impressive performances.
Dithipe leads by example on the field – opening the batting and bowling for the Saints u.13A team.
She made 109 runs in 5 games, being dismissed only once, to average more than 100. With the ball, she consistently picked up wickets and ended the tournament with 10 wickets in 5 games, conceding only 4.06 runs per over.
Saints Christian School Sports Coordinator Claudio Lucas, also sung her praises stating that she has a very bright future ahead of her on the cricket field.
“Without a doubt, Rea is definitely going to be a Protea one day. The only question is, at what age can she make the team? Rea also has good leadership skills, which show in her captaincy, and all the boys and girls following her on the cricket field,” said Lucas.
