Senwes Park was the location for scorching cricket action last week as the prestigious CSA Coca-Cola Schools T20 Tournament brought six of the top schools in the country together from 18-20 March 2016.
Each school represented the six provincial franchises in South African cricket during the week to crown the country’s finest. The schools who competed were Afrikaans Hoër Seunsskool (Affies), Grey College, Grey High School, Kearsney College, St.Stithians and Paarl Gimnasium.
In the end the number one cricketing school in the country, St.Stithians, won the trophy. Decked out in Lions red, the boys from Johannesburg beat Paarl Gimnasium (Cobras) by 8 wickets in the final mainly thanks to SA u.19 star Wiaan Mulder’s efforts with bat and ball.
Mulder hit 82 from 60 deliveries while hit batting partner, Wandile Makwetu made 61 from 55 to set up a convincing win.
“CSA was really happy with our professionalism during the week.
The players and coaches also praised the welcoming atmosphere of the Potchefstroom locals.
Overall everything went smoothly and credit must be given to everyone involved at North West Cricket,” said North West Cricket CEO, Heinrich Strydom.
