Photos: Cosmos win penalty shootout lottery in Nedbank Cup

Jomo Cosmos scraped through against AmaZulu 3-2 on penalties in their last 32 clash in the Nedbank Cup at Olën Park on Tuesday, 8 March 2016.

The tension on the pitch was on a knife edge during the shootout as no side could afford to make a mistake. In the end, the home crowd rejoiced as their team will live another day in this unpredictable tournament.

That match ended 1-1 in regulation time with Cosmos’ goal coming from Denver Mukamba in the first half and Amazulu scoring the equalisr in the second half through Allan Mukuka.

Amazulu captain Marc van Heerden suffered a terrible injury at the end of the first half and had to be stretchered off the field, while Mame Niang received a red card for dissent – luck definitely was not on Amazulu’s side on the night.

Cosmos will now continue on their cup run and hope that this will inspire their league form as well.
