Zeca Marques says he does not want to play a “blame game” after resigning this week as coach of Moroka Swallows.

Swallows will play Kaizer Chiefs tomorrow evening in the Absa Premiership, with former Amakhosi striker Fani Madida in charge as interim coach after Marques resigned following five successive defeats.

Swallows’ defence fell to pieces in that time, conceding 14 goals, and Marques decided enough was enough after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to MP Black Aves.

“There are a number of things you could pinpoint,” said Marques on what had gone wrong.

“It is not one decision or aspect, it is a few things, this is not a blame game, sometimes it is just the condition of the situation.

“We have lost games without being the worst team, there is a lack of concentration and you end up losing. Unfortunately you are judged on your results, not your performance.”

Marques said he would be taking a break from the game for now.

“Yes, I need a break to recharge the batteries,” he said.
