Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has been charged by the Premier Soccer League for comments directed at referee Phillip Tinyani.

This comes after the former Bafana Bafana striker labelled the referee as a ‘cow’ following his side’s 2-1 loss to Chippa United at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on October 22.

In a statement released by the League, the PSL said McCarthy would appear before the Disciplinary Committee next week Tuesday.

“Mr Benni McCarthy and the Club have been charged with contravening the Rule 54.3.6 of the NSL Handbook following Mr McCarthy’s post-match comments directed at match official Mr Phillip Tinyani at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium after the club’s fixture against Chippa United on 22 October 2017,” read the PSL statement.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Schloss and Bidvest Wits, as well as Platinum Stars are also set to appear before the PSL DC for various charges.

“Mr Jonathan Schloss and Bidvest Wits have been charged with misconduct pursuant to the fixture between Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs which took place on 16 September 2017. He will appear this evening.

“PLATINUM STARS FC: The club has been charged with contravening the Compliance Manual for failing to submit their provisional squad list ahead of their fixture against Maritzburg United on 27 October 2017 at Harry Gwala Stadium. The matter will appear next week Tuesday,” the PSL statement continued.
