We want to win things – Furman

SuperSport United captain Dean Furman is delighted to have reached a second cup final with Matsatsantsa a Pitori in quick succession.

The Pretoria outfit defeated Orlando Pirates 1-0 on Saturday evening at the Mbombela Stadium to advance to the Telkom Knockout final where they will face a rampant Cape Town City on December 10.

“I think from the moment that the coach came in through the door he discussed having a winning mentality, we want to win things and that is what we want as footballers and obviously we won the Nedbank Cup and that gave us a taste at success and from that moment on wards we wanted more.

“For us being in a cup final so soon after is great but the job isn’t done, it will be a difficult cup final against a team that is in great form in the league and in the final it is going to a difficult game for us. But we are trying to breathe a winning mentality and I think our start to the season has definitely reflected that so far,” said the Bafana Bafana international.

United are now unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions, but Furman says statistics are pointless if there is no success to back it up.

“For us it is another cup final, we are very excited for it and hopefully we can come out with more silverware for the club and the fans. If you look at the mentality of the squad, we work hard every day and we are trying to improve every day. We are not sitting back and resting on what we’ve done, which actually is nothing – we have had a few good results – but it means nothing until we actually succeed in something.”
