Orlando Pirates have appointed Bradley Carnell as assistant coach to Muhsin Ertugral for the upcoming season.

Carnell, a former Kaizer Chiefs defender, joins Pirates after spending last season assisting Giovanni Solinas at the now defunct Free State Stars.

“The 39-year old joins the club with immediate effect having agreed on a three-year deal,” read a statement for Pirates on Thursday.

Carnell has also previously been a coach at University of Johannesburg and is said to be one of the rising coaches in local football.

It was previously said Ertugral would look to hire a former Pirates player as his assistant, with Benni McCarthy and a Phakaaathi columnist rumoured to be favourites.
