Willem Jackson has heaped praise on Ndumiso Mabena after the Platinum Stars striker earned another call up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

Mabena was named by Shakes Mashaba in his squad for the second time in a row on Thursday, and will travel with Bafana to play the Gambia in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Bakau on June 4.

“He is an outstanding player,” Jackson, the Platinum Stars assistant coach, told the club’s official twitter feed.

“If it was not for the two red cards he would be leading all and sundry on the scorers list this season.”

Mabena has scored ten league goals this season, four behind Zambian Collins Mbesuma, but has missed four matches through suspension after being sent off against Maritzburg United and Jomo Cosmos.

“He works hard at training, always on time and a good example to young stars,” added Jackson.

Mabena made his Bafana debut at the end of March against Cameroon in Durban.
