Bloemfontein Celtic team manager John Maduka believes Sewelele can match the quality in the Bidvest Wits team.

Celtic face Wits in the round of 32 of the Nedbank Cup on Friday night at the Bidvest Stadium.

The Bloemfontein outfit have lost three Absa Premier League games in succession, their latest loss was at the hand of Orlando Pirates.

The passionate Celtic fans took out their frustrations on Pirates fans and Orlando Stadium seats, bottles were thrown onto the pitch and the game was temporarily suspended for Ayanda Gcaba to receive treatment after he was struck on the head.

Maduka is aware of the positive influence Gavin Hunt has on the team, he thinks Celtic can get a positive result from the game.

“If you check our game against Orlando Pirates last weekend you could have seen some brilliantly enterprising football mixed with phenomenal work rate especially during the first half. Luck seems to be eluding us at crucial moments bur fortunately that hasn’t dampened the spirit of the team,” Maduka told the club’s website.

“Wits under Gavin Hunt are lethal and have amazing bunch of players but our team is equally competent. It has been a while since we won a game, let alone a trophy, but I’m confident about our prospects this time around. Our technical team has worked tirelessly even through individual training of players to rectify mistakes and with that type of commitment we can come up tops,” said the former Celtic captain.
