This comes after a reporter asked him if his players were instructed to get yellow cards on purpose so that they can be suspended for the next match.
Brian Onyango, David Booysen, Deolin Mekoa, and Philani Zulu came to into the game on three yellow cards and they all got booked on the night, meaning they will miss their Nedbank Cup match against Black Leopards, but will be back for the league encounter against Golden Arrows.
However, Middendorp was angered by the question and said every team is doing it.
“Look, Steve Komphela at Kaizer Chiefs, Pitso Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns and everybody else does it. Now you want to blame me that we are using the Black Leopards game to have players available for a very important game against Golden Arrows,” said the German.
“Sorry, they got yellow cards and now they are suspended for the Leopards game, unfortunately I would have loved have them all in, but what can you do it happened like that.”
The United mentor was however positive regarding his team’s performance and added that there is need some part of the game that his players need to work on.
“We have to take the performance and improve. Take the goals we conceded and look at them, look into crosses and our first pole marking is not right, we have to look at all those things. We just have to move on.”
The team of Choice remain at the bottom half of the league table with 12 points.
