Bidvest Wits midfielder and former PSL Player-of-the-Season Sibusiso Vilakazi is considering a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old is contracted to Wits until 2018 and has already declared that if he was to leave the Clever Boys, he would prefer to make a move overseas.

But Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is said to have personally approached Vilakazi in an effort to lure him to Chloorkop.

Vilakazi is said to have been offered big bucks to join Downs and he is mulling over the offer.

“Sundowns are prepared to pay him huge sums of money,” said a source close to the situation. “That is no secret. Pitso likes him a lot and he has already started with plans to bring him on board, so yes, there is something definitely happening behind the scenes”.

The one obstacle though, is that Wits have already proclaimed they are not willing to sell the player to any local club. However, Downs are not the only PSL club chasing Vilakazi’s signature.

League champions Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have revived their efforts to bring the prolific midfielder to the club.

Coach Steve Komphela is also believed to be a big fan of Vilakazi and Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung confirmed Chiefs were interested in Vilakazi even before announcing their new coach.

Amakhosi have had several of their attempts rebuffed. Their last offer was reported to be in the region of R7 million.

As it stands a move to either Chiefs or Sundowns is being discussed by all the parties involved and will have to be approved by Wits.
