Former Moroka Swallows and Bidvest Wits striker, Thulani Ngcepe is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in a robbery in Geluksdal.

A source has told Phakaaathi that Ngcepe was lucky to have survived.

“Ngcepe was a victim of crime in Geluksdal last Wednesday night and he was robbed of his cellphone and then shot in the stomach. It is by the grace of God that he is stable and recovering in hospital,” said the source who asked not to be mentioned.

The source said there were no details of how far the police had gone in their investigations regarding the robbery and attempted murder.

Ngcepe was last on the books of Wits in the professional ranks but was released in January after he failed to break into Gavin Hunt’s starting XI.

He is currently an ABC Motsepe League team that is based in Geluksdal.
