Smoky rosemary wine cocktail

This concoction combines honey, grapefruit juice, vodka, and richness of a Leopard's Leap Classic Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

The Smoky Rosemary Wine Cocktail is a creative and sophisticated drink made with grapefruit juice, vodka, rosemary honey syrup, and Leopard’s Leap Classic Chardonnay Pinot Noir, topped with a smoky rosemary garnish.

Ingredients

  • 90 ml Leopard’s Leap Classic Chardonnay Pinot Noir, chilled
  • 60 ml Ruby red grapefruit juice
  • 30 ml Vodka chilled
  • 30 ml Rosemary honey syrup (equal part of water with honey, and several sprigs of fresh rosemary. Let it simmer slowly for about 15 minutes and then let it cool down completely)
  • Crushed ice
  • Rosemary

Method

  1. Make the honey syrup by combining 1 cup honey, 1 cup water and 3 to 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary in a heavy bottom pan and bring it to the boil. Lower heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool down, remove rosemary sprigs and store in an airtight jar in refrigerator. You’ll have enough for quite a few cocktails!
  2. For the cocktail, combine grapefruit juice, vodka and honey syrup over crushed ice in a shaker.
Shake well and strain into a glass. Top with the Leopard’s Leap Chardonnay Pinot Noir.
  3. Ignite the rosemary, blow it out and dunk it into your drink.
