Basic Play Dough Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Food colouring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, cream of tartar, and salt.
  2. In a separate saucepan, mix the water, vegetable oil, and food colouring (if using). Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to boil.
  3. Slowly pour the boiling water mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring continuously with a spoon.
  4. Continue to stir until the mixture starts to come together and form a dough.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
  6. Store the play dough in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

No-Cook Play Dough Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
