On the 13th of August 2022 the best cross country runners from the various Free State districts lined up in Bloemfontein to compete for a position on the Free State Cross Country Running team.
“From the very first race it was clear that it would be a strong season in the Free State camp”, says Pierre Fourie, organiser of the Fezile Dabi Cross Country league and co-selector of the Free State
team. “This year we clearly witnessed a very high standard across all age groups and we are confident that we are sending a very strong team to Nationals this year”.
On Tuesday 16 August 2022 the official team was announced and the chosen athletes were duly informed to prepare for the National Championships that takes place in Rustenburg on Saturday 17
September 2022.
The Fezile Dabi team, now representing Athletics Free State at National Championships, include the following 18 athletes:
Karliese Scheepers (G9 2km) (5 th at FS champs) – Parys Primary School
Janco Ferreira (B10 2km) (4 th at FS champs) – Parys Primary School
Marinus Rademan (B11 3km) (7 th at FS champs) – Vaalpark Primary School
Neo Letsoaka (B13 4km) (2 nd at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Kearabetswe Mokoena (B13 4km) (12 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Thato Moloi (B14 4km) (7 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Lushet Mfokazana (B16 6km) (3 rd at FS champs) – Sasolburg Athletics Club
Palesa Ntozonke (G16 4km) (4 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Hanné Hayes (G17 4km) (1 st at FS champs) – Parys High School
Tsebo Sekoto (G17 4km) (6 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Mongezi Vesile (SM 4km) (3 rd at FS champs) – Sasolburg Athletics Club
Madibo Jabulani (SM 10km) (6 th at FS champs) – Sasolburg Athletics Club
Wiekes Coetzer (M45 8km) 6 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Pitso Tsehle (M55 8km) (1 st at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Lindiwe Mthombeni (W45 4km) (2 nd at FS champs) – Sasolburg Athletics Club
Jeanette Nell (W45 4km) (6 th at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Eugene Martins (M60 6km) (1 st at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
Anna-Marie Ferreira (W65 4km) (1 st at FS champs) – Parys Multisport
